This grass forms large dense Perennial tussocks, ,of numerous very slender leaves. Leaves are Scabrous, 800 mm long by 3.5 mm wide, flat or chanelled, at least half as high as the flowering stems. The Ligule is stiff but membraneous, Truncate. The Inflorescence is an open Panicle to 250 mm long. Individual flowers are very small, 3 to 5 to a spikelet.
