Small white
Description :
Medium sized butterfly, wingspan 50mm. Upperwomgs are white, with a small black tip to the forewings. Males have blacker wingtip and two black spots on the forewing, while females have only one less conspicuous black spot. Underwings are a pale creamy-yellow. Caterpillars feed on a variety of members of the Brassicaceae (the cabbage family) and are a major pest of gardens, being very destructive to all varieties of the cabbage (cabbage, sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower).
Habitat :
Gardens and cultivated land and along creeks and rivers.
Distribution
:
Introduced but widespread from Southern Queensland to Tasmania and across to West Australia. Common throughout the park, but less commonly encountered in forested areas.
