Scientific Name : Pandorea pandorana
Common Name : Wonga vine
Height : Climbing up to 10 metres
Description : Tall shrubby climber. Leaves are in Opposite pairs, Pinnate and up to 200 mm long, with 3 to 9 Leaflets each 30 to 80 mm by 10 to 20 mm, Ovate. Inflorescence is a loose Panicle of many flowers. Flowers are funnel-shaped 15 to 20 mm long, with broad lobes less than a third of the length of the cream or white tube, which is streaked with red at the throat, often with a few crimson or purple spots. Fruit consists of large (to 60 mm) boat-shaped pods, brown and leathery. The seeds are flat surrounded by a broad transparent wing.
Habitat : Climbing on trees and shrubs in wet and dry Schlerophyll forest and in wet gullies. Also scrambles over cliffs and steep banks.
Distribution : Common in Fosters Gully. Scattered on hillsides above Billy Creek, including plants trailing over isolated cliffs. Found in all mainland states and on Flinders Island.
