A small slender snake up uo 400mm long. Upper colour is very variable,from light grey, through olive-brown to almost black. Easily recognised by the thin white stripe along its upper lip, which continues along the side of the head, fading out along the neck. It is poisonous, but is not dangerous to humans. |

Forested areas, where it is usually nocturnal, but will sometimes forage or bask by day. Usually hides during the day under leaf-litter, logs etc. |

| Distribution : |
|
South-Eastern New South Wales, Southern Victoria and Tasmania. Recorded once in the park, when dug up during a winter tree-planting just below Jumbuck Road on the Billy Creek side. |
