Scientific Name : Dianella caerulea
Common Name : Paroo lily
Height : 500 mm
Description : This lily forms sparse clumps, with few stems and several basal leaves. The leaves have two distinct sections, a flattened sheath and an open, almost flat, lanceolate Lamina. The leaf margins are unevenly Serrate. The flower stem is longer than the leaves, with few blue flowers. The Sepals, to 10mm long are slightly longer than the Petals. The Stamens are shorter than the Petals and have yellow-brown Anthers, above yellow swellings on the Filaments. The fruit is an Ovoid light blue berry 10mm long.
Habitat : Moist open forest.
Distribution : Queensland to Victoria and Tasmania. Locally common in South-Eastern Victoria. Occasional on hillsides on both sides of Fosters Gully, especially Stringybark Ridge, including the Western Boundary.
