A Dioecious woody climber, often flowering high in forest canopy, but also commonly flowering near ground level. Leaves Opposite, Ternate with Leaflets Ovate, glossy and with Entire margins 30 to 80 mm by 10 to 55 mm. Flowers in short Panicles, unisexual. Sepals 4, looking like Petals, white strap-shaped 15 to 25 mm long. Male flowers with numerous Stamens, with Anthers 2 to 3.5 mm long, each with an appendage 0.5 mm long. Fruit are numerous Achenes, each with a feathery Awn attached. The feathery Achenes give rise to the name Old Man's Beard for Clematis species in fruit. |

Very common throughout the Park. Throughout South-Eastern Victoria, especially common in East Gippsland. Extends to New South Wales and Queensland. |
