Description :
POISONOUS. A slender snake of up to 1.7m. Its colour is very variable. Upper parts are usually brown to black, often with orange to red scales along the flanks. Although poisonous this snake is not particularly aggressive and bites are uncommon.
Habitat :
Usually found in wet areas, such as the edges of swamps and marshes.
Distribution
:
Highland areas of New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia. Several records from scattered localities in the park, but not commonly seen.
