Description : |

One of the largest birds of prey, to 1050mm. A wingspan of almost 2500mm, makes it one of the largest flying birds. It is sooty-black all over, except for tawny feathers on the back of the head and pale brown wing coverts. It has a large predatory bill, and feathered legs (trousers). The tail is distinctively shaped, long, broad at first, then tapering to the tip (wedge-shaped). It often soars, with wings upswept. |

Throughout Auatralia. Common in the Park. Most often seen, soaring around the hills to the East of Billys Creek. Also seen over Fosters Gully and perching above Lyndon's Clearing. |
