Scientific Name : Zizinia labradus
Common Name : Common grass blue
Description : A very small butterfly, wingspan only 22mm. Upperwings are pale blue, with blackish borders. Males are bluer tah females and have broader black borders to the wings. The underside is almost white, with faint darker markings. Caterpillars feed on clovers and other legumes. This is possibly our commonest butterfly.
Habitat : Generally in grasslands, where clovers grow.
Distribution : Throughout Australia. In the park wherever grasses and clovers grow. Not found in forested areas.
Flying Season : October November December January February March April May
Family : Lycaenidae
