Scientific Name : Vanessa kershawi
Common Name : Painted lady
Description : A medium sized butterfly, with a wingspan of about 55mm. Upperwings mainly orange, with tips of forewings black, with white markings. Hindwings have four blue spots inside the outer edge. Underside is a mottled mixture of brown and cream, so that the butterfly is well camouflaged with the wings closed. Caterpillars feed on various daisies, particularly species of Helichrysum and on Cape weed - Arctotheca calendula.
Habitat : May be seen in almost any habitat.
Distribution : All of Australia. Fequently seen in all parts of the park.
