Scientific Name : Urtica incisa
Common Name : Scrub nettle
Height : Up to 2 metres
Description : Perennial herb. Stems and leaves with scattered stinging hairs, so avoid skin contact. Stems mostly die back to a Perennial rootstock each winter, from which new stems emerge in the spring. Leaves are lanceolate, Ovate or triangular with the margins coarsely toothed up to 120 mm by 70 mm on stalks up to 70 mm long. Male and female flowers in separate inflorescences in the Axils of the upper leaves. Individual flowers are small and green.
Habitat : Margins and clearings in rain-forest and wet open forests.
Distribution : Very common in South and East Victoria. Found in all states except Northern Territory.
Flowering Season : November to December
