Scientific Name : Caladenia catenata
Common Name : White caladenia
Height : 300 mm
Description : A small orchid with a single slender leaf up to 150mm long. All Perianth segments are white, up to 25mm long. Lateral Sepals and Petals are spread forward like the fingers of a hand, while the Dorsal Sepal, stands upright behind the Column. The Labellum is often flushed with pink, with the tip being orange. It has three lobes. The lateral lobes are turned upwards, while the mid lobe is tapered and curled under. The mid lobe has distinctly toothed margins. The Lamina has two rows of clubbed Calli, extending on to the mid-lobe.
Habitat : Open forests, woodlands and heaths on well-drained soils.
Distribution : Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. In Victoria, confined to the South-East. Recorded and photographed once in the Park on the slope above the East side of Fosters Gully.
Flowering Season : September and October
